A month before I graduated high school in nineteen hundred and ninety four, man it doesn't seem that long ago, I started my career as a 911 Dispatcher. When I first started, we kept paper radio logs and wrote down everything that was said over the radio to and from the deputies, fire and EMS units. About two years later we got our first computer-aided dispatch system and we were able to type the dialogue. I can remember taking Microsoft Word and Excel classes when I first started at the county. That is where my passion began for creating documents and working with the computer. I created the paper schedule for our department, that was still being used as of a few years ago, our policy and procedure manual, training manual and the list goes on. One of my greatest accomplishment was creating a 40+ page phone book that was in a binder at every station. As the years went on I figured out how to get that phone book uploaded onto the county server, so we all could get to the phone book on our computers. Instead of having to find said notebook and then flip through it like a madman to find the information we needed in a hurry most of the time.
After my 911 Dispatch career my husband and I owned a real estate company. He showed the houses and negotiated contracts, worked with builders and land developers in creating subdivisions, and I handled all of the behind the scene tasks. I kept us organized in all aspects, stayed in contact with our clients, created our websites, marketing materials, trained our new agents, attended chamber and social events and last but not least was the technical guru. Needless to say, we were the perfect team! He loved his part of the business and I loved what I did!
Fast forward a few years to 2018. We moved to Southeast Texas to Lake Sam Rayburn where he was a fishing guide and I created custom decorated sugar cookies. Man, if you ever order sugar cookies or anything custom baked and decorated, do not balk at the price! I absolutely enjoyed it; however, it took me about 8 hours to bake and decorate a dozen cookies. I realized fairly quickly that I would enjoy that as a hobby, not as my full time job.
We closed our real estate business in 2020 and it was time for another move! This time to Lake Guntersville, Alabama, another amazing bass fishing lake. My grandparents and parents raised me fishing and camping, so the lake has always been very special to me. This was our first time to move out of the great state of Texas. It was absolutely gorgeous there with mountains and the lake surrounding the amazing town, but we returned to Lake Sam Rayburn in 2023.
We now own YOLO Bait Co, a custom soft plastic bait business located in Sam Rayburn.
I have turned my true passion of enjoying anything computer related into my Virtual Assistant business. Eric and I are loving life and enjoying all of God's blessings that He has given us.
